Creators’ Block? TikTok has a solution.
Dec 19, 2023New TikTok feature alert!
The platform is officially rolling out Creative Cards: data-backed prompts to help creators and small businesses come up with more ideas for effective, engaging content. You’ll need to register for access if you want to use the feature.
There are five categories of cards, ranging from Community (how can you engage your audience and build more customer loyalty?) to Trends (how do you take part in popular memes or hashtags?) to — our favorite — Storytelling (how do you share your business’s journey?).
How can you use this? We know from our clients that idea generation can be exhausting at best, and annoying at worst. Even if you do have a run of several great videos in a row, sustaining that momentum is so difficult. Putting some constraints on your creativity is a crucial practice we teach — and it looks like Creative Cards could be a great in-app tool to help do exactly that.
🎥 What's Trending
Who doesn’t love a good DIY home improvement transformation? With more than 12 million views and going on 3,000 comments, this scribing-a-baseboard video shows the power of showcasing — and solving — a problem.
This video instantly grabs the viewer’s attention by showing them a “problem” they might have in their own home (a small gap between a baseboard and the floor). This tactic leans into the fact that TikTok is the #1 search engine for Millennials and Gen Z. The creator is banking on those viewers searching out “how to scribe a baseboard” — which is conveniently part of the title. Then, the video dives into a solution. A perfect one? Nope. But that imperfect solution gives viewers a LOT to talk about in the comments.
Your takeaway: Start by showcasing your problem visually so you can immediately communicate to viewers they should watch. Write clear titles that can play on SEO trends and increase your chance of being seen by people searching for similar content. And finally, don’t be afraid to be bold with your solution. You’ll either directly help your audience solve their problems — or for viewers who have their own solutions, they’ll be all too happy to share theirs in the comments. Boom: impact and engagement.
