Google’s shifting its YouTube focus, so you should too.
Jul 05, 2023YouTube’s keeping it short and sweet.
As of June 26th, 2023 Google is shifting priorities from YouTube stories (much like Snapchat disappearing feature, or Instagram, or really any typical story format…) to YouTube shorts. Although this is receiving mixed feedback from creators, this is a great change. By eliminating YouTube stories, they are now opening up community posts (similar to Instagram) and shorts (similar to TikTok). The goal here is to enhance community engagement, build viewership, and support creators.
What does this mean for you? The time is NOW to jump on this platform (if you aren’t already) and to build community through short-form content. Remember, 80% of the time people are on their phones, they’re watching short-form video. And it’s a powerful way to build a subscriber base on YouTube already. We have no doubt that the creators and businesses that leverage it will be rewarded by the platform.
🎥 What's Trending
With over 10 million views in a week, this video is turning a once-in-a-lifetime experience into great content. Here’s what you need to know.
The creator opens the video with an incredibly compelling hook that doesn’t feel real, “When you buy every single ticket on the plane so you don’t have to deal with people.” After getting your attention, he explains what really happened, which is just as unbelievable.
The video then continues to deliver on never seen before visuals alongside his wild story.
The other interesting part isn’t the 26k comments or 58k shares… it’s the 500K+ saves. People find this video so unbelievable, they have to come back to it in the future.
Your takeaway: Ask yourself how you can grab attention with text on screen. Then ask yourself how you can keep the audience watching with unique visuals or behind-the-scenes that they may have never seen before. What would make your content worth saving?
