🎯 TikTok’s Taking On Live Trivia

Looks like TikTok’s betting on us answering questions for cash. We’re not bookies, but we think their odds are good.

In true nostalgia fashion, TikTok’s taking notes from the popular 2017 live trivia game, HQ, where players would answer questions live in the hopes of making it to the final round to split the pot. At its height, over 2.3 million players were participating weekly.

TikTok’s said, “Copypasta,” and created a trivia edition promotional campaign. While it’s meant to advertise the new John Wick movie, players stand to win some serious cheddar (those left standing will split $100K). Trivia nights will take place for five consecutive days starting February 22nd, The first three days of trivia will include two sessions per day at 5-6 pm PT/8-9 ET and 6-7 pm PT/9-10 pm ET. Put it on your calendar now.

Why should you care? TikTok’s clearly experimenting more and more with how live features can increase engagement and product spend. This may be a good time to test different types of live streaming content.

People are not being sheepish about how much they love watching this video that keeps popping up in their For Ewe Feed (get it?)

This video starts with a man quickly grabbing a sheep, saying “Tricked ya!” Well, now we’re invested. What’s he going to do to the sheep? A curiosity gap (and maybe some dread ensues). Very quickly he shows us a pair of clippers and starts shearing the sheep. Once we see how relaxing the sheep finds his haircut, we are now affixed by this strangely satisfying process and can’t stop watching.

Your takeaway: What is uniquely satisfying about your profession? What transformational process can you show through visuals? If sheep farmers are finding a way to make great before-and-after content, we know we can too.
