YouTube’s cracking down on AI
Nov 29, 2023YouTube is taking a stand
YouTube has announced a new policy to combat the spread of misleading AI-generated content on its platform. In the "coming months," creators will be required to disclose the use of AI in videos, leading to a visible label on content deemed "synthetic." The disclosure obligation extends to realistic alterations or entirely synthetic material, such as AI-generated videos depicting events that never occurred or individuals saying or doing things they didn't. Notably, AI labels will be more prominent on "sensitive topics" like elections, conflicts, and health. Creators consistently failing to mark AI-aided content may face removal and suspension from the YouTube Partner Program. Additionally, YouTube will address AI-generated music content by allowing music partners to request the removal of AI-generated songs that imitate artists' voices, with a consideration of factors like news reporting and analysis.
How does this help you? With so much progressing so quickly in the world of AI, it’s great to see one platform making plans to protect your content, music, and original content. This will help identify those abusing it.
Should I still use AI? Absolutely, but be ready to disclose when and how you do. Use it to gain new ideas, collect key hashtags, and do research for your videos. When in doubt, use your own audio and add your own visuals for your content.
